Winter has been relatively quiet. I was immersed in football, wrote a couple of songs with Lindy, and went about my days.
I stumbled upon the Wim Wenders film “Perfect Days” which I adored. Beauty in the mundane …and then a fairly deadpan Finnish 🇫🇮 film called “Fallen Leaves” which I’d also recommend ~ for those who enjoy SBS. Any recommendations, send my way.
VINYL UPDATE
Good news is the second vinyl pressings of SCLindyBand have arrived so they should be back in your favourite store, Bandcamp and the online shop. Thanks to everyone who has bought a copy.
The UK 🇬🇧 + Ireland 🇮🇪 tour - June / July 2027 for Lindy Morrison and myself is really starting to take shape with requests for house concerts and pub gigs from • Liverpool • Glasgow • Manchester • Cork • Brighton • Stoke On Trent • Newark and beyond. There’s a few dates to fill so if you think you’d like to host a gathering, and live in the UK or Ireland don’t be shy. Contact us at the office.
I’ve also been invited to sing at another show celebrating the music of Scott Walker with a fabulous group of musicians. I fondly remember my brother’s compilation of “Fire Escape In The Sky” and more recently a valiant, Night At The Proms on the BBC with the likes of Richard Hawley, Jarvis Cocker and John Grant singing songs from Scott 1-4. Brave. They’re difficult songs to sing, but we do our utmost.
On another matter Lindy and I have started pencilling in another round of Australian shows. Brand new songs and songs from the previous releases all get an airing with local musician pals joining us. First stop ~ Adelaide. The Wheatsheaf on Sunday afternoon Nov 15, one of our all time favourite venues.
Sad to hear the news of Dolly Parton passing. She really was a gem. What a great songwriter and a great loss. Here’s my favourite of her saddest of sad songs.
