Firstly, thanks to everyone for coming along to our shows in Yass and Canberra in March and our guests Nick Craft (Sidewinder) and Jonathan Wraith (Snake Oil Preachers - who return to Smiths very, very soon).
We’re lying low in April but head back to NSW in duo mode to play in Thirroul and yes, you guessed it ~ Marrickville for our May Mini Matinee Tour. For those who are mildly interested, when I was a youngster playing in Chad’s Tree I used to be a postie in Marrickville. Tiny cute dogs with ribbon in the hair would attach themselves to bottom of my trousers with their salivating fangs as I wandered from house to house distributing mail. I took my life into my own hands each day. Ah, such fond memories. ✉️
As you can see Lindy and I are venturing to the NSW south coast for an intimate show at Franks Wild Years. A matinee event in which the wonderfully talented Amanda Brown will hop on stage to join us for a few songs with her exquisite violin and charming vocals. Tickets are selling fast. 🎻 Then we return to the inner west musical capital to play a Sunday session at Gasoline Pony ⛽️ 🐎 in duo mode on Sunday May 10. We’ll have a least two guests joining us in Barry Turnbull (Love Me) 🎸 and Jessica Black (Jep & Dep). Saddle up.
There’s a few things happening later in the year which I’ll touch on.
Other dates in duo mode include MONA, Hobart as part of Dark Mofo on Saturday June 13, 1pm ~ Sex and Death Day Club. 😬
Mullumbimby Roots Festival July 11-12 with a whole array of bands including Mental As Anything!
We’re also thinking of possible 🇬🇧 UK dates as we sift through various requests from friends overseas. It’s a long way off to June/July 2027 but if this is of interest, just write to us.
<<<<<<< Rewind, to a support spot for Canadian singer-songwrite Ron Sexsmith back in the ‘90s at the wonderful Continental Cafe. Ron is touring Australia shortly. Such a warm hearted and humble guy. Great songs and voice. I think I was going for an Elvis-Hollywood look, one can but try. To be honest I don’t even recognise myself. Catch Ron where you can.
Anyway, there’s lots there to ponder.
One more thing. I’m performing at my local library too 📚 a few tunes and reading from that book of mine.
