Here’s ‘Evil’ Graham Lee [Triffids] and myself back in 1992 [photo 📸 by Brett Klucznik] on tour with The Blackeyed Susans. The following year the two of us played in duo mode supporting John Cale at The National Theatre in St. Kilda, the guest spot kindly handed to us by David McComb. At the time Dave wasn’t quite ready to go into solo mode, ... hmm, I can’t remember Graham and I playing any other duo shows. So it’s with a mix of wonder and bewilderment that we find ourselves playing together for the first time since ~ this Friday at The Palace Of Magnificent Experiences [P.O.M.E.] 267 Swan St, Richmond. It’s a wonderful gallery space, seated, table service and finger food. Tickets are strictly limited 🎫 and available here.

With Covid numbers settling and restrictions easing I’m feeling quietly optimistic Queensland will open their borders and I’ll make it in time to play at BACKBONE in East Brisbane. After sell out shows in Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney Peter Milton Walsh [The Apartments] and I share the stage again with the wonderful Lindy Morrison [The Go-Betweens] joining me on the kit 🥁 ~ July 3, presented by Press Play and Phase 4. Tickets 🎟 here.

Love In Bright Landscapes has been a labour of love for Jonathan Alley [3RRR]. He’s been working on this documentary about the musical life of David McComb [The Triffids] for over a decade and it will have its debut screening as part of MIFF this coming August. Keep an eye out for the program. I’ve only seen the trailer and it appears to be worthy of the wait.

Hopefully see you somewhere.
