Winter approaches, the leaves tumble down, the temperature drops and you can really feel that familiar chill in the air. Some people love it, wrapping themselves up in scarfs and winter coats. There’s often frost on the windscreen up here in the hills and that slim possibility of snow. Snow! Shows aren’t as frequent in winter and the choice of going out or staying snug at home in front of Netflix is sometimes an arm wrestle.
Heading to Canberra and Adelaide this weekend. Looking forward to Lindy Morrison joining me 🥁 on a few tunes at The Polish White Eagle and spreading some cheer. There’s still a few tickets 🎫 left for my solo Sunday afternoon show in Adelaide at The Wheatsheaf the following day.
June sees two shows in Melbourne. Excited to be part of the West Set festival ~ winter tunes in the West. Playing at Hotel Westwood in sunny Footscray for the first time in their bistroteque with maestro Shane O’Mara on Friday June 18th, it’s free ... but you register for tickets.
The second June show is more of an intimate gathering at new venue POME ~ Palace of Magnificent Experiences, 267 Swan St, Richmond ~ performing with pedal steel king 👑 ‘Evil’ Graham Lee on Friday, June 25. The last time we teamed up as a duo I believe was decades ago, supporting John Cale at The National Theatre in St Kilda. Graham is better known as the pedal steel player with The Triffids, he and I collaborated on a lot of songs from the Song Gifts album, so expect quite a few. Tickets are very limited, it’s a small gallery space and the owner often has Q&As with the musicians on the night. Tickets 🎫 here.
Finally making a trip north to Brisbane to launch 🚀 the Song Gifts double album and again share the stage with Peter Milton Walsh [The Apartments]. It’s PMW’s old home town so expecting to see some of his pals and acquaintances. Presented by Press Play and Phase 4 Records at East Brisbane’s BACKBONE on Saturday, July 3 ~ tickets available at Oztix and Phase 4. 🎫
