This weekend ~ MELB at THE MERRI CREEK TAVERN

Finally it’s here. The weekend of two shows at The Merri Creek, 111 High St, NORTHCOTE [well more like Westgarth if you ask me].

Friday with ‘Evil’ and his sweet, sweeping pedal steel and Saturday with some sonic guitar stylings from Shane O’Mara. A few surprises in the set, the old, the not so old and the shiny and new. It’s an intimate space and we’ll be playing a couple of relaxed sets. Tickets available here

Hope you can make it.

MELB SHOWS + acoustic house concerts

Just a quick reminder there’s only two shows left before the end of the year and we’re in intimate, duo mode at The Merri Creek Tavern, 111 High St NORTHCOTE. It’s a case of revolving doors, Fri NOV 10 with ‘Evil’ Graham Lee and then Sat NOV 11 with Shane O’Mara. Tickets 🎫 available here ~

There’s talk of including ‘Will’s Blues’ and ‘Every Gentle Soul’ in our Friday set as suggested by ‘Evil’ Graham Lee ~ in memory of Will.

Shimmering waistcoats seemed to be our fashion choice back in the early ‘90s ~ ‘Evil’ Graham Lee and I pictured here, not sure where. We don’t dress or look much like this these days.

Hoping to see you at Merri Creek.

ps. Thanks for those enquiring about the Acoustic House Concerts with Lindy. They’re slowly taking shape in the calendar. Interstate shows are a juggling act but we’re getting there. Write to snarskioffice@gmail.com if you’re keen.

Merri Creek next, then Acoustic House Concerts with Lindy

Firstly, again a big thanks to all who attended the Snarski vs Snarski shows. Joyful, slightly unhinged and yet, some of our best shows together. Before Mark returned to Spain 🇪🇸 we popped into the studio and recorded what we’d been performing over the winter months. More on that later. Any title suggestions welcome.

I’m trying something a little different and giving the audience a choice at the next weekend of shows ~ NOV 10 & 11 at The Merri Creek Tavern, NORTHCOTE. Friday I’ll be accompanied by the sweet, sweeping pedal steel from ‘Evil’ Graham Lee [Triffids] and Saturday ~ the sonic guitar stylings from maestro Shane O’Mara ~ one or the other, the choice is all yours. Tickets 🎫 available here and here.

ACOUSTIC HOUSE CONCERTS WITH LINDY

Q. Who would like to host an intimate acoustic house concert with the iconic Lindy Morrison 🥁 [Go-Betweens] and myself ~ performing, sharing a tale or two and answering any reasonable questions that might be thrown our way ... 💥 Lindy and I are considering doing a round of acoustic house concerts across our vast sunburnt land through spring, summer and beyond ~ so I’m putting it out there trying to gauge interest. If anyone is keen to have us in their living room please let me / us know. Any town, any day and we’ll promise to try to sort out a schedule. Performing my songs, SnarskiCircusLindyBand and a request or two. Birthdays, parties, anything 🎂 just write to snarskioffice@gmail.com and we’ll see what can be done.

Last Snarski vs Snarski shows

I’ve always liked this photograph of my brother Mark. That look you get when you’re the younger sibling being a pest, you see I took the photo. It’s also of a time and place. Sydney 1987. Morrissey Road in Erskineville to be more precise ~ Ed Kuepper, Louis Tillet, Mark Dawson, David Nichols, Sue Grigg and Paul Smith all in attendance at a casual celebration for the debut Chad’s Tree release. It certainly captures a moment in time, almost but not forgotten.

So it comes to an end this tour of ours. Short and bitter-sweet. Most of the shows sold out much to our delight and surprise. Thanks to all who jumped aboard the good ship SvS.

The last chance to see us together before Mark returns to Spain 🇪🇸 is Saturday Aug 26 in St Kilda at the wonderful, bohemian gem that is George Lane. It’s a matinee show, civilised and seated for those who get in quick, 3-6pm showtime ... and then it’s over for another time.

Hopefully see you somewhere, ... and hopefully it’s George Lane.

SNARSKI vs SNARSKI 2023 begins

Well, this is close to where it all began. Chad’s Tree boarding the train in West Perth whilst everyone else got off ~ buckles on our shoes, cardigans and jackets, swimming against the tide, 40 years of dabbling with music ~ who would’ve thought. My brother Mark went on to form The Jackson Code and I was asked to sing with The Blackeyed Susans

Mark relocated to Spain after a while, pictured here wearing my leather jacket on his balcony in the heart of Madrid. I always thought it looked better on him anyway.

It’s been some time since we’ve shared a stage to perform as Snarski vs Snarski... close to ten years perhaps. Rehearsals are going well, the usual anxiety, arguments and arm wrestles. Be quick if you have any requests because the set lists are starting to take a solid shape.

Ticket 🎫 updates <<<< PLEASE read if you’re keen to come along >>>>

The first weekend begins THIS Saturday AUG 5 at Wesley Anne, 250 High St, NORTHCOTE with evening show tickets 🎫 still available here

SYDNEY at Django has *SOLD OUT* and PERTH at Lyric's Underground, Maylands is on the cusp ~ only a dozen or so tickets 🎫 available for Saturday night AUG 12 … (thanks to all who’ve bought tickets, much appreciated).

We’ve added a final matinee show in St Kilda at George Lane on Saturday AUG 26, 3-6pm for those that side of the Yarra.

Then who knows when SvS will happen again... when will the stars align, when will Mark return from España 🇪🇸 when will we agree on sharing the spotlight yet another time... when you ask... who knows... let’s see if we survive this round of shows first.

Snarski vs Snarski.

The Beast With Two Heads.

Coming to a drive-in near you.

*ADELAIDE* with *LINDY* then *SvS* tour

Lindy pic 📸 by Pamela Kleemann-Passi

Here she is, the most entertaining person I’ve ever toured with ~ Lindy Morrison 🥁

Sad to say our last shows together for a while are coming up this weekend in ***ADELAIDE***. I’ll miss the arguments... we do however agree on two things ~ no hire cars and eating dinner at 5pm is ok. Oh and we both enjoy swimming.

So, SnarskiCircusLindyBand finish our mini tour for our mini album “Someone Said The Someone Said” at The Wheatsheaf, Sat evening and Sunday afternoon with local bass slinger Karl Melvin filling in for Dan Kelly as he holidays in Greece.

Tickets 🎫 here.

The Snarski v Snarski shows are selling well much to our surprise, um should I say that? Anyway, Wesley Anne matinee has •••sold out••• so they have added an evening show. Also, be quick if you’re in Perth [Lyric Underground] and also if you were wanting to come along to Saturday night's show at Django in Sydney, those shows are all on the cusp of selling out.

It’s farewell from SnarskiCircusLindyBand 🥁 for the time being. These last two shots of us are from Katoomba taken by Lonaa Inertia Photography 📸

Needless to say it’s been a joy.

See you in ADELAIDE ...or somewhere.

BRIS shows, SYD return + S v S

Lickety-split Brisbane friends, this may well be the last chance to catch us this year. Lindy and I perform at It’s Still A Secret, 48 Montague Rd, South Brisbane THIS Friday night and Saturday afternoon [matinee].

Joining us for the shows are local pals Mia and Jamie from It’s Magnetic 🧲 and BJ from Halfway 🐎 ... 💨 performing the new tunes and deep diving into the past.

Tickets 🎫 still available from here and here.

We return to Sydney as uber~talented, ex-Go-Between, soundtrack composer Amanda Brown has kindly invited us to open for her show ~ “Eight Guitars” at Sydney’s City Recital Hall.

The weather in QLD was a delight on our last visit. The waves 🌊 beautifully formed and relentless, hoping for a swim ... see you soon Brisbane friends.

For those who haven’t heard, my brother Mark returns from Spain for a series of shows in August. Yep, it’s on again for the first time in over a decade... Snarski v Snarski. Tickets on sale, see links here.

SCLindyBand MELB THIS SAT

~ Attempting an ABBA pose backstage ~ photo Lona Logan

This Saturday afternoon we bring the SCLindyBand to Melbourne for our ONLY, that’s right only Victorian show to launch “Someone Said That Someone Said”.

It’s also the only show that the young, musically gifted Dan Kelly will be able to join us for this tour as he’s been touring incessantly with Uncle Paul.

A civilised, seated matinee at The Brunswick Ballroom from 3pm-6pm... roll up, roll up for SnarskiCircusLindyBand or in the words of our guitarist Shane O’Mara ... “the travelling musical peep show erects our tent at the esteemed music Mecca in glorious afternoon delight ~ skyrockets in flight, expect fabulous songs and sparkling repartee”. It must be said LINDY has been in fine form, it’s worth the price of admission for her banter. Tears.

Hope to see you there THIS SATURDAY June 3 ~ Brunswick Ballroom, 314 Sydney Rd, BRUNSWICK. Tickets 🎫 here

SCLB x🥁

ps. Thanks to all the good folk who joined us in Sydney and our sell~out in glorious Katoomba ... next stop Brisbane.

Shows this weekend ~ NSW 🦘

Looking forward to our first run of shows coming up this weekend.

First stop, GREAT CLUB Marrickville Fri MAY 26 ~ before a trek up the Blue Mountains to the Carrington Hotel, BAROQUE ROOM in Katoomba on Sat MAY 27. There’s only a handful of tickets left for our first Blue Mountains show. All ticket and tour info can be found here ~

Chuffed to find a review of our new mini album (posted on the socials) in Mojo magazine, UK 🇬🇧 ... next stop London... well, we can but dream.

After this weekend we have our launch in MELBOURNE at The Brunswick Ballroom Sat JUNE 3. Civilised, seated matinee show where we’ll be joined by the one and only Dan Kelly on the four stringed beast and singing his sweet bird like harmonies. It’s shaping up to be a great couple of weekends. Lindy’s over her jet lag ✈️ and has been busy rehearsing without us, as we have without her.

Thanks to everyone who’s been buying the mini-album 'SOMEONE SAID THAT SOMEONE SAID' 💿, those who stream and download, your support is much appreciated. Hopefully we’ll be seeing you at these gigs.

Mini-album streaming, touring s-o-o-n!!!

Whilst Lindy has been busy traipsing around the UK, recording and playing BBC-Live-To-Airs with her English chums, we’ve been waiting for the CD to drop - the CDs are now only a week or two away.

For those who prefer streaming, the mini-album is available today Friday May 5 on all streaming services ~ Bandcamp, iTunes, Spotify and YouTube. Simply look up SnarskiCircusLindyBand and you should find “Someone Said That Someone Said”.

Here’s a snippet of the kinda kooky opening track “Shane O’Mara Wore Mascara”.

One of the serendipitous moments during the recording came on one of the very last days. Jodi Phillis singer-songwriter of The Clouds happened to be visiting the house of Yikesville, so we subtly coaxed her into the studio to sing some dreamy, ethereal harmonies. Joy.

The tour / mini-album launches begin this month in Sydney at The Great Club on May 26, before Katoomba at The Baroque Room on May 27, Melbourne, Brisbane, Darwin and Adelaide follow.

All ticketing information can be found here.

The track listing looks like this. Hope you enjoy the songs and guest appearances. Dan Kelly will join us when he can ~ he sings lead on "Mexico, I Have Never Been There" and plays superb bass throughout.

See you somewhere,

First track out now, pre-orders too

Exciting news.

Today the first track and video from our debut mini album Someone Said That Someone Said has premiered on The Music and is available to watch on YouTube.

The song “Since I Slept With You Everybody Wants To Sleep With Me” is a Snarski/Morrison co-write and features the sugar coated vocals of Shane O’Mara [which I might add he’s a tad anxious about].

I tried to write a song that was part Only Ones, part Buzzcocks, melodic but still packed a punch 🥊 ~ and we came up with this. Mostly Lindy’s lyrics ~ wise cracking, irreverent, audacious...

Watch the video 🎥 here ~

You can order the single or mini-album from Bandcamp and the compact disc at the Snarski shop also. It's released on May 5 (CD to follow a couple of weeks afterwards).

Shows are selling well up in NSW [Great Club & Baroque Room at Carrington Hotel, Katoomba] ... don’t forget our matinee show in Melbourne at The Brunswick Ballroom on Sat June 3.

Hope you like our new direction ;)

See you somewhere.

MAY shows and mini-album

Lindy Morrison 🥁 Shane O’Mara 🎸’Evil’ Graham Lee, part-timer Dan Kelly and myself are SNARSKICIRCUSLINDYBAND 🎪

Our tour kicks off in Sydney, then Katoomba and Melbourne before heading to Brisbane, Darwin and Adelaide. Autumn 🍂 shows. All ticket 🎫 info here 🥁 ~ launching our debut mini-album “Someone Said That Someone Said” 💿

Be warned ⚠️ ~ includes uptempo, finger snapping, melodic tunes.

NSW friends, I’ve been told tickets for Katoomba at The Baroque Room [Carrington Hotel] are selling swiftly so lickety~split 🚀 if you’re keen otherwise see you in Sydney.

Saddened to hear of the passing of the brightest of stars and pal ~ Mandy Pearson ~ dancer and singer with The Jackson Code, Pressed Meat and the Smallgoods and drummer of Love Me [a much underrated band]. Such an incredible being ~ talented, strong, lover of pooches, laugh out loud funny, the only person I knew who could munch on a raw onion whilst swigging a can of coke.

Big congratulations to Lindy Morrison 🥁 for receiving The Lifetime Achievement Award at last month's Queensland Music Awards. Well deserved and not before time.

See you somewhere,

New release, new tour ...

Photo 📸 by Jon Baxter

Here we are SnarskiCircusLindyBand.

Indeed a rare photo of the 5 of us, although Graham appears to be speaking to an imaginary 6th member. We start playing again soon, some shows with Dan Kelly some without, some in duo mode with friends... it is as we say a circus 🎪 ~ and a band ... sometimes.

Sydney, Katoomba, Melbourne, Brisbane, Darwin and Adelaide in support of our new release “Someone Said That Someone Said”. All dates and ticket 🎫 info here.

A lot has happened since Lindy Morrison vowed never to see Rob Snarski perform again. Morrison approached the singer-songwriter post show, having attended a liquid lunch and feeling a tad vulnerable, she berated him for embracing sadness and lacking up-tempo, finger-snapping, melodic numbers. En garde!!

Not long after, the two began performing around the country in duo mode - before roping in ‘Evil’ Graham Lee [Triffids/pedal steel], Shane O’Mara [Rebecca’s Empire/Chris Wilson/Silversound] and more recently Dan Kelly [nephew of Paul] to form ‘supergroup’ ...  SnarskiCircusLindyBand.

After touring briefly together, arguing incessantly along the way, they somehow agreed to record a batch of new songs Snarski had been conjuring with this band in mind.

So, with the new mini-album “Someone Said That Someone Said” in their pocket [due for release in early May] the group of misfits hit the road in the depths of Australia’s autumnal months to play their new tunes including “Shane O’Mara Wore Mascara”, “Since I Slept With You Everybody Wants To Sleep With Me” [a co-write with Lindy] and take a deep dive into Snarski’s less humorous, narrative driven, song writing past.

“Someone Said That Someone Said” is available in May on all streaming services and via MGM Distribution. If you’d like to pre-order the CD from RSHQ follow the link here ~

See you somewhere, Rob x

Wollongong + Canberra with Lindy 🥁

Can’t believe it’s taken me this long to put an email together, is it me or does it seem like quite a while?

Firstly, happy new year to all and special thanks to the musicians who have joined me to perform the songs from “Searching For The Heart Of It All” across the country this last year and all the good folk who have bought the album and come along to the live shows.

Queensland and WA were sensational, the heat in Perth on arrival nearly bowled me over. It’s not that I’d forgotten that beautiful dry heat, it’s just I hadn’t expected it to be 30° at 8am. Brutal.

Lindy Morrison has been enjoying performing and being back on the road, our arguments and disagreements continue to entertain ... us at least. Outrageous at times, Lindy takes no prisoners ~ ask anyone at the Lyric's Underground on Saturday evening about “the carob tree”. Evidence she turned into a puddle that night ~ see pic.

New shows on the horizon, early March involve treks to Wollongong and Canberra ~ The Music Lounge and Smith’s Alternative respectively ~ Fri March 3 and Sat March 4

Our new Tote Bags will be on sale at the shows. If you’re close by drop in.

See you somewhere.

Rob x

ps. I’ve been writing songs for snarskicircuslindyband ~ recording begins February.

pps. Video here is of a dancing cowboy at our Freo Arts Centre show, Greg Dear on guitar bringing us closer to The Velvets.

QLD Tour This Weekend

Thanks to all who came along to our VIC shows over the weekend. We really got onto a roll and felt we were finding different ways into these songs of mine. Great to have Dan Kelly sing with us, Felicity Cripps, Celia Church and the delightful Kelly Day. It’s Queensland's turn this weekend with shows in Currumbin, Ipswich and Brisbane.

Though there’s not a lot of publicity about for our Brisbane show ~ it’s part of Live Spark, a free Sunday afternoon concert at The Powerhouse.

Hoping people will come, it’s a throw of the dice outside capitals. Never thought I’d be playing in Pauline Hanson’s hometown of Ipswich. Banshees Bar is an art space gallery and bar, we’re looking forward to the experience. Here’s Shane modelling a PH mask we found in a car park in Adelaide. Would’ve been good for Halloween.

Our first show in Perth has already sold out. New show added on Fri Jan 20 at Lyric's Underground, Maylands.

Looking forward to some sunny weather and a swim or two. See you somewhere.

Good news ~ VIC, QLD and WA

Well the good news is LINDY had a large fan presented to her in Adelaide [for her hair]. We were all chuffed by the efforts of former Go-Betweens and BES stagehand Jason Evans [now living in SA] who was the most generous host and tour guide. Thanks J! A big thanks also to all who made it to The Wheatsheaf and Karl Melvin from Avant Gardeners for his bass expertise. Karl often stands at the back of the room at shows shouting out for “Will’s Blues” ... so it was a joy to have him join us for a handful of songs. Generosity of people astounds me ~ thanks to Paul for gifting Lindy a new set of cymbals too 🥁..!

We have some Victorian shows coming up in early Nov before Lindy and I head to QLD in duo mode. CastlemaineNorthcoteArchies Creek ... then Gold CoastIpswich and Brisbane.

Also our first show of 2023 has been announced in WA. Heading over to play Lyric’s Underground, Maylands on Sat Jan 21 with Catherine Traicos joining us as our special guest. Tickets are already selling swiftly. 🚀 Lickety split.

All ticketing info can be found here and at venues.

Hopefully see you in VIC, QLD or WA...

Adelaide and Victorian shows

Firstly thanks to all the good folk who’ve already bought tickets to our shows in ADELAIDE ~ the Sunday afternoon has *** SOLD OUT *** and only a handful of tickets remain for Saturday night. Be quick if you’re keen. We’ll be joined at both shows by two of Adelaide’s finest in Liz Dooley from Swimsuit and Karl Melvin from Avant Gardeners ~ each sitting in on a few songs. Looking forward to it.

After Adelaide we turn our attention to Victorian shows with 3 dates in a row [likely to kill people of our vintage].

Theatre Royal ~ Castlemaine Nov 4

Wesley Anne ~ Northcote Nov 5 and

The Archies Creek Hotel Nov 6

I love Castlemaine, I often think it would be the ideal place to live...especially after visiting. Look forward to singing with our guest Felicity Cripps again also. One of Felicity’s first CD purchases was the Snarski & Luscombe CD ~ There is nothing here that belongs to you. Serendipity.

Wesley Anne has a lovely little stage out the back, tables and chairs, very comfy. There’s the option of matinee 3-6pm or evening 8-11pm.

Then we head to Gippsland for an afternoon show at Caravan Music’s relocated venue ~ The Archies Creek Hotel. Peter Foley has been shaping this place for a number of years now ~ seems to be a very popular spot in that neck of the woods, not far from Phillip Island too.

Great to be busy again, and thanks to all who came along to the Great Club, if I’ve said that before...I’m saying it again.

Thanks,

Rx

ADELAIDE with Lindy & Co then VICTORIA

Special thanks to all the friends and fine folk who filled The Great Club in Sydney. It was an absolute joy to play the new songs with Lindy & Co.

Next stop ~ ADELAIDE ~ for two shows.

My favourite pub in SA, The Wheatsheaf Hotel in Thebarton hosts a Saturday evening and Sunday matinee. Lindy hasn’t played in Adelaide for 33 years... far too long. Here’s a pic of The Tivoli, possibly from the second last time Lindy played in Adelaide with The Go-Betweens.

November rolls in and we head to regional Victoria with shows in Castlemaine and Archies Creek, as well as dropping by Melbourne for a couple of intimate shows at Wesley Anne in High St, Northcote [matinee and evening tickets 🎫 available]

It’s getting busy.

Don’t forget the new album Searching For The Heart Of It All is available to stream on all platforms and available on CD also.

See you somewhere.

ps. QLD shows with Lindy in the pipeline too.

A little bird told me the tickets 🎫 for our Sydney show at The Great Club are selling swiftly, so if you’re keen to come along ~ be quick 🚀

I got quite a surprise to find this pic of Lindy Morrison [The Go-Betweens] and Jim Woff [Crow/The Cannanes] on social media. Pictured here outside a rehearsal room in Marrickville about to fine tune their rhythm section parts for the show 🥁 … ! Made my day.

In Melbourne, Shane O’Mara and myself head out west to Footscray this Friday for a set at Hotel Westwood. Early start and finish 7:30-8:30pm ... and it’s FREE.

I’ve been told it’s a great venue, we’re playing in the bistro ~ dinner music.
